She graduated as a biologist in 1996 at the Faculty of Science, University of Pécs, Hungary, PhD (2003). She is an associate professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy of the University of Pecs Medical School. She teaches pharmacology, drug development and clinical pharmacology, and trains young scientists- 4 PhDs were defended under her supervision. She was awarded by Bolyai János Research Fellowship, New National Excellence Program Fellowship (2 times) and Dean’s Commendation, University of Pécs Medical School. Her research field is neuropharmacology with focus on the sensory system, the role of capsaicin-sensitive peptidergic afferents and neuro-vascular-immune interactions in inflammatory and pain processes.
She investigate new alternative analgesic possibilities by modulating the lipid rafts. She published 64 papers with cumulative impact factor of 272 and 2021 citations, her h-index is 26, she owns 2 patents. One of her novel firs-in-class analgesic drug candidates has successfully completed Phase Ia (single dosing tolerability) clinical trials and is currently prepared for Phase 1b (multiple dosing) and Phase 2 (proof- of-concept in patients). She is a guest editor of Frontiers in Pharmacology and IJMS. She is the board member (secretary) of the Hungarian Pain Society and board member (treasurer) of the Hungarian Society of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.
