She is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, University of Pécs, where he has been teaching since 2022. Prior to this role, he served as an Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2017. Dr. Kata Csekő earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences in 2022, focusing on respiratory pharmacology, and holds a medical degree from the University of Pécs (2013).
His primary research interests revolve around respiratory pharmacology, particularly the sensory system, the role of capsaicin-sensitive peptidergic afferents, and neuro-vascular-immune interactions in airway inflammation. He specializes in endotoxin-induced acute lung injury and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) models triggered by cigarette smoke exposure.
Dr. Kata Csekő is an active member of the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, serving on its board since 2025, and the Hungarian Physiological Society. His work has earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious János Bolyai Research Fellowship (2024-2027) and multiple recognitions under the New National Excellence Program. He has also been a recipient of the Botond Berde Fellowship and the Gedeon Richter Talentum Foundation Fellowship.
With over 550 citations, Dr. Kata Csekő has made significant contributions to the field of pharmacology and continues to advance research that bridges pharmacology, immunology, and respiratory medicine.
